It’s interesting to me that James Buchanan, the president who preceded one of the greatest national leaders in history, Abraham Lincoln, was a dud. Presiding dilatorily over a bitterly divided nation, he passively led the country into civil war. Yet, God was in the shadows of a nation that was tearing apart at the seams, molding the humblest of men for His glory. This gives me much to hope in.
When God wants to drill a man, and thrill a man and skill a man,
When God wants to mold a man to play the noblest part,
When He yearns with all His heart to create so great and bold a man That all the world should be amazed,
Watch His methods, watch His ways…
